The Bulgarian biathlon team debuted at the Games in 1992 in Albertville. At 7,5 km Nadezhda Aleksieva finished 4th and at the 15 km competition -- fifth. Silvana Blagoeva also ranked among the first 10 –8th at the 7,5 km race. The team at the 3 x 7,5 km relay race (Aleksieva, Blagoeva and Iva Shkodreva) ranked at the prestigious 4th place.

At the next Games “Lillehammer ‘94” Iva Karagyozova made the best performance – 11th at the 7,5 km race. The first title for Bulgaria was won by Ekaterina Dafovska at the 15 km race in “Nagano ‘98”, and Pavlina Filipova finished fourth at the same distance. The second medal for the country was won by Irina Nikulchina – bronze at the 10 km pursuit at the next Olympiad – “Salt Lake City 2002, when Dafovska became fifth at the 15 km race, 10th at the 10 km pursuit and 15th at the 7,5 km competition. Our relay team ranked at the prestigious 4th place for the 4x7,5 km race in Salt Lake City.
